About

Hi, I’m Paul Spencer.

Decades of tech and business leadership have taught me one thing: Resilience matters.

“Paul has the gift of communication and the strong ability think on his feet.”

My backstory

When I was in my early-30’s I knew that I would ‘do my own thing’ someday. I had no idea what that even meant or what it would entail. Fast forward a couple of years, Mandy and I are moving into a new home with our first newborn and I am ‘doing my own thing’ with my office 60 miles away. That was the beginning of the Spencer Family Story as business owners.

It wasn’t really the beginning though. My great-grandmother, who I was blessed to know, ran a hotel in a small town out west during the 1920s. Her husband, my step great-grandfather was a sheep rancher. I was blessed to know him as well. During that same generation of great-grandparents there were restaurant and grocery store owners. Dad still has an old crank-key cash register used in his grandparent’s grocery story up in Wyoming. This is fascinating to me, maybe not so much for you, but it really means something to me. As an observation of my Family History, they were entrepreneurs and family business owners. Where did all of that family business wisdom go?

I share this because we all have Family Stories. Some are boring, fascinating, scary, or even traumatic. Regardless, we are responsible to form the plot going forward for our grandkids and their grandkids. There is so much wisdom to be shared within our own families and within this community.

Career

My career is rooted in leading, building, and deploying custom, multi-million dollar, global enterprise business application systems. Culminating 40-50 enterprise projects across many different industries: airlines, insurance, health care, consumer packaged goods, major league sports, energy oil & gas, automotive, municipal government & DoD, and professional services payroll, HR, finance. During that time, I had the luxury to experience business and industry markets through many different organizations and cultures, easily directly interacting with thousands of people and multiple dozens of executives and owners.

‘Doing my own thing’ meant founding a partnership called Pomiet (Peace of Mind in Everyday Technology) with Rob and Stacy to build healthcare enterprise software for hospital systems and payment / insurance providers. We learned so much from each other and grew a profitable business. It was during this time that we created our principles, now called Harmonics Way, and applied the Deming philosophy to how we managed our company.

Second Nature

That career spans 28 years, nearly 30?!, and I truly enjoy interacting with all of you. It is such a pleasure to be invited to the table as a personal advisor and confidant so that you can continue to grow your business while planning for the longevity of your family’s generations.

“I remember when you said, 'I don't do this - you do it'. And I though OHH. I learned an immense amount of thoughtfulness with my decision making. How to rely on process and how to communicate and be clear. As well as to think outside of the box.”
